Another Soccer Story
It seems like McDonalds keeps triggering funny incidents. The backstory here is that Richard Nguyen is a little freshmen. When I say little, I mean 4 foot 8 and 80lbs, little. He is very reserved, quiet, polite. The first time I ever put him on the pitch, he tip-toed out with his hands clasped on front of him. Then he scored a goal. I showed Suz a picture of him and the first thing she said was, “Awwww…”
So Richard and I are standing in line at McDonalds and I hear a couple of the guys snickering and then call out, “Richard, look!” We look over and they had wheeled one of the high-chairs over to a table. I smiled and said, “Okay put it back.” Richard had a bashful smile on his face. Everybody gets along well on the team, and all the older guys are kind and helpful to Richard, so I knew that they weren’t trying to be mean or anything. They laughed and put the high-chair back and that was it.
5 minutes later, little Richard tip-toes over to me with his head barely reaching the height of my sternum. Looking straight up he asks, “Coach, do I really have to sit in that chair?”
